STRIVE: make great efforts to achieve or obtain something

THRIVE: to prosper or flourish

In life, you have to decide what you want, and then make it happen.

About Me: The first thing is that I love to cook.  Cooking energizes me.  Working with fresh ingredients is when I am doing my best work.  Fall is my favorite time to cook because of the colors of the ingredients, the oranges of the sweet potatoes and butternut squash, the browns of the cinnamon and nutmeg, and the yellow of the lemons.  I also love testing recipes and using my family as guinea pigs (they don’t usually mind).  Taking food that I would normally buy in a food store and making it preservative free is something I have become super interested in lately.  Whole foods are so important for the mind, body, and soul.

I like to play around with flavors and textures so that the people I feed have an experience while eating my food. I want them to be able to taste all the flavors and make them feel something. Food should be enjoyable and a topic to be talked about before, during, and after, the meal. That is my goal as a cook. I don’t own a slow cooker and I really try to not use processed food products when I cook.

About Strive, then Thrive: The name is one that lends explanation to how I live my life these days.  Aside from cooking, I will transform this blog into a collection of experiences in my life.  Those experiences could range from what I’m wearing to where I’m going.  This blog is a way for me to aggregate my lifestyle into one place.  It will be reflective of the transitions happening in my life, as well as the changes that have happened over the last year and a half.  Becoming a new person inside and out has helped me realize where I want this blog to go.  I hope you enjoy reading these posts as much as I love writing them.

xoxo Jenn
